Ryan is still training…

We leave PNG at the start of November, so Ryan only has a short time left to complete the airstrip checks for our neighbour, Capt. Richard. During October, they’ve been spending about one day per week doing a few last airstrip checks to enable Richard to be able to fly to as many airstrips as possible around the Telefomin & Sepik areas. They even have an airstrip check planned on the day that Richard flies us out of Telefomin to Mt Hagen on 28th October, to really maximise their time together. But that check will only happen provided that particular airstrip is open by then; it recently got closed for tribal fighting, which is sadly a common problem in some areas of PNG.

Early in October Ryan checked Richard into Munduku in East Sepik Province, in between Telefomin and our base in Wewak. Here are some details about Munduku:

Flight time from Telefomin - 45 mins

Code - AYDK

Elevation - 120ft (Hot, lowlands)

Slope - 1.4% (Flat)

Length - 720m (Longer than our average)

Class - B (Relatively easy to land on, A being the easiest, D being very hard and requiring advanced airstrip training)
