Journey from Mt Hagen to Kudjip
We do a lot of road trips in Canada and the UK, in order to visit as many of you as possible, but that’s not a part of our life in PNG.
We haven’t driven the new road out of Telefomin, as it’s not safe yet, so normally our driving is just 1km from the Base to our house, when we’re moving the lawnmower or bringing groceries home.
In order to visit Kudjip to get away for the weekend, we had to drive an hour out of Mt Hagen. A short trip by Canadian standards, but the PNG Highlands Highway can vary from a pot-hole ridden dirt road to smooth asphalt, and back again without any warning; plus with pedestrians crossing at any point. So for the first long-distance driving Ryan’s done in 6 months, he needed to be on high alert!
